Apple has published a series of DIY repair guides for the iPhone Duo, which includes detailed instructions for users and independent technicians to replace device components. This release coincides with reports of screen cracking occurring shortly after the device’s launch.

The repair manuals cover various hardware and software issues, providing step-by-step directions for fixing problems such as display and hinge malfunctions. Apple emphasized the importance of reviewing the entire manual before attempting repairs and included safety guidelines for handling fragile components.

However, genuine replacement parts for the iPhone Duo are not yet sold in Apple’s Self Service Repair Store. Users are facing significant issues with the device, particularly related to the hinges that have prompted reports of cracked screens. Images of damaged devices have circulated on social media, showing cracks developing along the hinge area.

One customer from Australia reported that his iPhone Duo cracked after being opened fewer than 20 times within six hours of purchase. Apple promptly replaced the damaged device after he visited a store. The company appears to be investigating these defects to address manufacturing problems.

While the iPhone Duo has received mixed reviews regarding its performance and design, early criticisms focus on both its build quality and app compatibility. Reviewers have noted that many third-party applications have not yet been optimized for the foldable format, which led to inconsistent user experiences. The device weighs 254 grams and has drawn attention for its design but has also been described as bulky.

Praise for the iPhone Duo has included its display quality and innovative hinge design. Nevertheless, the presence of cracking issues, especially during the initial launch phase, raises concerns about its long-term durability. Customers are experiencing frustration as they deal with these significant display problems shortly after purchase, even as Apple assures support for affected units.
