No headway made on Future’s assets: Amazon to SC

New Delhi, March 15 : The Amazon Group on Tuesday told the Supreme Court there has been “absolutely no headway made in the talks” for settlement between Amazon, Biyani and Reliance groups on the assets of Future Retail Ltd. “There is absolutely no headway in the talks for settlement (amicable) between Amazon group, Biyani group and Reliance on the assets of Future Retail,” senior lawyer Gopal Subramanium, appearing for Amazon told a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice NV Ramana. “Sometimes we are very hopeful, but the ultimate result is nothing,” Subramanium told the bench also comprising Justices AS Bopanna and Hima Kohli. The former Solicitor General also clarified to the top court the meetings took place at top level but no resolution could be reached. “There is no progress in the talks, I am so sorry to say this.” He told the court despite its orders “to keep hands off”, FRL stores have been taken over by Reliance. FRL though said “not a single store has been surrendered, Reliance came and overnight removed the boards as law permits”. The matter is posted for Wednesday hearing. SM ING
