Lea Michele in Talks to Return as Rachel Berry in Glee Reboot

Lea Michele is in discussions to return to her iconic role as Rachel Berry in a reboot of Glee, according to multiple sources. The reboot will be available on Disney+ and Hulu, as confirmed by Ryan Murphy, co-creator of the original series. The announcement follows the recent series order.

Michele, who gained fame as the ambitious aspiring Broadway star, is eager to reunite with the show’s original cast. Murphy has communicated with about ten former cast members, many of whom are enthusiastic about the project.

While no cast confirmations are finalized, some actors have shown interest in returning. For instance, Heather Morris and Chord Overstreet, who played Brittany and Sam, respectively, have hinted at their potential comeback through social media.

The original Glee aired for six seasons from 2009 to 2015, focusing on a high school choir in Ohio and tackling social issues while highlighting musical performances. The show won multiple awards, including six Emmys.

In recent interviews, Michele reiterated her affection for the series, stating it holds a special place in her heart. She has also appeared in Broadway productions since her time on Glee, including a notable role in Funny Girl.

Michele’s character, Rachel Berry, is known for her powerful vocals and ambition, often clashing with her peers. The reboot promises to hold a similar spirit, according to Murphy, who has written a new script for the series.

Glee fans are mixed in their reactions, especially regarding how the show will address the losses of cast members Cory Monteith and Naya Rivera, both of whom died before the revival. Chris Colfer, another original cast member, acknowledged the difficulty of continuing without Rivera, reflecting on the emotional weight of the reboot.
