New Delhi, (Udaipur Kiran) — Skoda has achieved a remarkable Guinness World Record with its popular sedan, the Skoda Superb, after the car covered 2,831 kilometres on a single tank of diesel fuel. The feat was accomplished by Polish rally driver Miko Marczyk, who piloted the fourth-generation Superb 2.0 TDI model, averaging an impressive 2.61 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres.
This record-breaking performance showcases the enduring efficiency advantage of diesel engines, reaffirming their potential for long-distance travel despite ongoing debates about their environmental impact.

The Record Drive
The test was conducted using a standard Skoda Superb 2.0 TDI in the Essence trim offered by Skoda Poland. The vehicle comes equipped with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, producing 110 kW of power and 360 Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission and 16-inch wheels.
For reference, the car’s official combined WLTP fuel consumption stands at 4.8 litres per 100 kilometres, making the achieved figure of 2.61 L/100 km even more extraordinary.
Marczyk used regular diesel fuel during the attempt and mentioned that a future run with premium-grade diesel might yield even better results. He also expressed a personal goal of crossing the 3,000 km mark on a single tank in the future.
Marczyk’s Fuel-Saving Tips
Along with the record, Miko Marczyk shared five key tips for improving fuel efficiency:
-
Maintain correct tyre pressure to minimize rolling resistance.
-
Rest well before driving to stay focused and drive smoothly.
-
Anticipate traffic flow to reduce unnecessary braking.
-
Accelerate gradually and use Eco driving mode whenever possible.
-
Take advantage of wind conditions to reduce aerodynamic drag.
This world record not only highlights Skoda’s engineering prowess but also demonstrates how mindful driving and diesel efficiency can together achieve exceptional real-world results.
