Dehradun, October 16 (Udaipur Kiran): In a major step towards improving healthcare access in remote areas, Hindustan Zinc, under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, has launched mobile health vans to serve 25 villages across the Gadarpur and Kichha blocks of Udham Singh Nagar district, Uttarakhand. The initiative has been launched in collaboration with the Mamta Health Institute for Mother and Child.
The mobile health vans were flagged off by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami from his residence in Dehradun. Commending the initiative, the Chief Minister said that these mobile medical units will prove highly beneficial for rural communities by ensuring easy access to essential healthcare services. He urged residents to take full advantage of the facility and extended his best wishes to everyone involved in the effort.
On this occasion, Anamika Jha, SBU Head of Hindustan Zinc’s Pantnagar plant, and Murari Chandra, Deputy Director of the Mamta Health Institute, welcomed the Chief Minister and briefed him about the objectives of the project.
Designed to bring essential medical services directly to rural communities, the mobile vans will provide health check-ups, basic treatment, and consultations. The initiative aims to address the shortage of healthcare facilities in remote areas and enhance overall health awareness among local populations.
Speaking about the project, Anamika Jha said that the launch marks a milestone in Hindustan Zinc’s continuous efforts to strengthen community health infrastructure. She added that the company is currently operating mobile medical units in 135 villages—including 25 in Uttarakhand and across four districts in Rajasthan. Each unit includes a doctor, nurse, counsellor, driver, and coordinator to provide on-the-spot medical consultation and treatment.
Through its various welfare initiatives, Hindustan Zinc is positively impacting nearly two lakh people across Rajasthan and Uttarakhand. The program is being implemented with technical support from Chief Medical Officer Dr. K.K. Agarwal and under the guidance of District Magistrate Nitin Bhadoria.
The flag-off event was attended by District Magistrate Nitin Bhadoria, Chief Medical Officer Dr. K.K. Agarwal, Additional District Magistrate Pankaj Upadhyay, Sub-Divisional Officer Manish Bisht, Superintendent of Police Manikant Mishra, and other dignitaries.
The launch of the mobile health vans represents a significant step towards ensuring accessible, reliable, and preventive healthcare for rural populations—especially for common and seasonal illnesses.
