May 13, 2025 – Mumbai — Adani Power Ltd. saw a strong surge in its stock price on Monday following the announcement that it has won a highly competitive bid to supply 1,500 MW of thermal power to Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd. (UPPCL). The company’s shares climbed 5.76% to ₹543.10 on the BSE, rising by ₹29.60 from its previous close of ₹513.50.
The stock opened at ₹545.00 and touched an intraday high of ₹549.65 and a low of ₹541.40, with over 2.87 lakh shares traded on the counter. Adani Power currently holds a market capitalization of ₹2.10 lakh crore, with promoters holding 74.96% stake in the company.
Key Project Details: 1500 MW Ultra-Supercritical Power Supply
Adani Power has secured the contract under the Design, Build, Finance, Own, and Operate (DBFOO) model to supply 1500 MW (net) of power at a competitive tariff of ₹5.383 per unit. The electricity will be generated from a greenfield 2×800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant to be developed in Uttar Pradesh.
The project, previously approved by the Uttar Pradesh cabinet, aligns with the state’s strategy to strengthen its electricity infrastructure in anticipation of rising demand. The Letter of Award (LoA) for the project was received on May 10, 2025, and Adani Power will now enter into a long-term Power Supply Agreement (PSA) with UPPCL.
Second Major PSA in Less Than a Year
This win marks Adani Power’s second major PSA in under a year. In September 2024, the company received a 6,600 MW LoI from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL), which included 1,600 MW thermal and 5,000 MW solar capacity, and was later formalized into a PSA.
With these strategic wins, Adani Power is solidifying its position as a leading private power generator in India, catering to both conventional and renewable segments.
