Reliance Industries to begin gas production from R-Cluster gas field from second half of FY21

Mumbai : Reliance Industries is planning to start natural gas production from R-Cluster gas field in the flagging KG-D6 block in the Bay of Bengal from the second half of the 2020-21 fiscal. The company and its partner BP Plc of UK had in June 2017 announced an investment of Rs 40,000 crore in the three sets of discoveries to reverse the flagging production in KG-D6 block. These finds were expected to bring a total 30-35 million cubic metres (1 billion cubic feet) of gas a day onstream, phased over 2020-22. R-Cluster will be first to come on stream.

Four of the planned six wells that would produce gas from the field have been completed and the fifth one is being drilled currently. The first offshore installation campaign is underway and is expected to be completed in Q1 FY20.

Reliance Industries is India’s largest private sector company. The company’s activities span hydrocarbon exploration and production, petroleum refining and marketing, petrochemicals, retail and 4G digital services.
