Rajsamand, July 18: Marking the beginning of the 49th Mines Safety Week 2025, Hindustan Zinc’s Rajpura Dariba Complex organized a technical workshop and executive body meeting, focusing on modernizing and improving blasting practices to ensure safety and efficiency in mining operations.
The event was conducted under the guidance of Vishal Goyal, Deputy Director of Mines Safety, North-West Zone, Udaipur Division. The primary agenda was to assess current blasting methodologies and encourage the adoption of innovative and safer blasting technologies.
Safe Blasting Is the Backbone of Mining
Delivering the keynote address, Tom Mathew, Director of Mines Safety (North-West Zone, Udaipur), emphasized the critical role of controlled blasting in mining:
“Mining is the backbone of all industries, and drilling and blasting are at its core. Just as uncontrolled electricity use can be dangerous, so can uncontrolled blasting. It is crucial that everyone involved understands and executes blasting with precision.”
He praised the workshop as a timely and collaborative initiative that brought together scientific agencies, explosive manufacturers, and mining companies to promote industry-wide best practices. He expressed confidence that such events would greatly benefit the entire mining community in the Udaipur region.
